FIRST OF ALL HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT YEAR FILLED WITH ANXIETY-FREE DAYS AND THAT YOU CAN ALL GET STRONGER!
No I’m not talking about the song – well maybe I am? I’m not sure haha. Basically I’m talking about the message. I think this ties into anxiety very nicely. For me one of the only ways I can get back to being my ‘normal’ self is if by trying all the things I’m scared of again which is obviously scary but each time I get a bit stronger.
Each time you do something and it goes right you begin to trust the situation a bit more each time. If you do it enough then you’ll get to the point of it not worrying you at all.
Take me having sleepovers at my house for an example. At one point even having someone round for a few hours made me want to run upstairs and lock myself in my room. Now I have friends over all the time (sorry Mum and Dad!)
What I’m trying to say is the more and more you practise the more it will become a less anxiety provoking thing.
Next time an opportunity arises that you are a bit worried about take that leap of faith. If it works out then you become a stronger person and you’ll feel great about it. If it doesn’t then it didn’t kill you, you just had a bad experience and if at first you don’t succeed try, try, and try again ( I feel like I’m just throwing inspirational quotes at you guys).
If it does kill you then speak to Kelly Clarkson she made the song – not me!
If you do make that leap of faith make sure you reward yourself no matter the outcome because you tried and you put yourself out there which should be applauded anyway.
